New Hotel Website Feature: WebP Images now Available!

Reading Time: < 1 minute

We are very excited to announce our new Hotel Website Feature! We have improved the image upload types available on your Guestcentric CRS. Hoteliers can now upload Webp images directly to the Guestcentric CRS, ensuring optimal image load speed without compromising image quality. This is just the first of an array of image format updates we aim to launch across the Guestcentric application over the coming months.

But first things first, what is a WebP Image and why is it Important for Hotel Websites?

Google, who launched this image format back in 2010, defines Webp as: “A modern image format that provides superior compression for images on the web. Using WebP, webmasters and web developers can create smaller, richer images that make the web faster.”

The number one benefit of using WebP is the reduced file size this format offers without having to reduce image quality. This is especially important on your hotel website, where every kilobyte saved contributes to a faster page speed and improved user experience. Webp is the most versatile image type, allowing you to do regular images but also transparent ones and even animations. All with just one format.

Why Guestcentric has embraced this Innovation to Help Hoteliers

As part of this first update, you can now upload Webp images directly to the media manager from your backoffice. We have launched this update not only to ensure your images load faster without compromising quality and thus optimize online visitor experience, but also to make it easier for you to create, upload, and publish animations across your hotel website.
