Guestcentric, leading provider of hotel website and reservations solutions in over 60 countries, has generated 590,000 reservations, 1.6 million nights, and €272 million in revenue for 563 hotels in Portugal, in 2022.

Revenue generated in 2022 was substantially higher than 2019 levels due to increased ADR. The average daily rate per night per room increased by 27% compared to 2019 (over €38) last year. There was growth in all regions, but especially in the Algarve, Alentejo and Porto. The Algarve grew the most in average price, which increased from €119, in 2019, to €173 in 2022. Direct channel market share grew by over 7 percentage points overall in 2022 vs 2019. This means that direct reservations increased way faster than the market: over 35% in occupancy and over 52% in revenue.

Guestcentric, which grew its Portuguese portfolio by over 100 hotels in 2022, expects strong hotel business performance in Portugal to continue in 2023, due to continued pent-up demand despite rising costs and inflation. Thus, the company will significantly enhance its software to support hotels amidst high levels of demand and persistent talent shortages. These developments will be officially launched at the BTL trade show in March 2023.

“2022 was undoubtedly the best year ever for our hotels in Portugal,” said Guestcentric CEO, Pedro Colaço. “According to early market indicators, it seems likely that high levels of demand and revenge travel will continue in 2023. Therefore, it is essential that hotels are fully prepared to respond to this demand, and we will continue to support them through exceptional service and cutting-edge technology.”
